It’s my favorite time of year for my favorite folks in town!

Every year, I try to raise a little money for one of my favorite local nonprofits by reading in their Epic 24 Hour Read-A-Thon. It’s one of the funnest things I do all year and this time…Lane will be right beside me using her newfound reading skills to coach me up!

Desert Island is such a special program that that kids in Birmingham and beyond are lucky to have.

I could really use your help in supporting their neighborhood program that’s been inspiring kids for a generation! Plus, you get the rare opportunity to bribe me to stay up all night for a fantastic cause!

The Desert Island Supply Co. is a creative writing and publishing center located in Woodlawn. Their in-school program, the All-City Writers Corps, is a collective of more than 300 third to twelfth graders who participate in weekly creative writing workshops designed to unleash their imaginations. Like DISCO, I believe that writing is a very powerful tool for young people as they explore and document their worlds.
