Join me in supporting DISCO, the greatest little nonprofit.
The Desert Island Supply Co. is a creative writing and publishing center in Birmingham, AL, run by one of my dear friends (and fellow spouse-supporter of THANK YOU BOOKS), Brian Connell. Their in-school program, the All-City Writers Corps, is a collective of more than 300 third-twelfth graders who participate in weekly creative writing workshops designed to unleash their imaginations. To help fundraise, I'm reading a piece of writing that I love (TBD but maybe more FRANZEN????) in their EPIC READ-A-THON. The Great Outdoors is the theme. I mean who didn't connect with a Great Outdoors book as a kid? My Side of the Mountain? Fern Gully?
