Support DISCO's Student Writing Programs!

Join me in supporting DISCO, the greatest little nonprofit.

On December 3, I will participate in a fundraising "read-a-thon" for my son Brian's organization, the Desert Island Supply Co. ("DISCO"), a creative writing and publishing center located in Birmingham, AL. Brian is DISCO's Executive Director. DISCO's in-school program, the All-City Writers Corps, is a collective of more than 300 third-through-twelfth graders who participate in weekly creative writing workshops designed to unleash their imaginations. Ellen and I have experienced the great pleasure of working with DISCO representatives in one of their elementary school classes; we can vouch for the effectiveness of the program and the impressive children with whom they work. This is a program well worth our support!

I will be one of many "readers" who will read for twenty minutes on-line as part of the 24-hour December 3 read-a-thon fundraiser. I hope you'll support my campaign! I will greatly appreciate your supporting me with a donation. If your means allow, I suggest a donation of $5.00 per minute ($100.00), but even a smaller donation will help me meet my goal and help provide opportunities for students to write and create.
