Woodlawn Writers Corps is such an asset to its students - the more we can diversify modes of expression the more likely all students are to find their creative spark (and have other tools at their fingertips for dealing with the complex emotions of life!). deeply enjoyed reading and hearing my student’s work and watching them get to know themselves and one another in ways they’re not always given a chance to.

The Woodlawn Writers Corps is a collective of more than 700 students at Avondale Elementary, Oliver Elementary, and Putnam Middle School. Every week during the school year, volunteers from the Desert Island Supply Co. facilitate in-school creative writing workshops for Corps members.
