Every year, I try to raise a little money for one of my favorite charities by reading in their yearly 24 Hr Read-A-Thon. It’s one of the funnest things I do all year and provides for such a special program that the kids there and the city of Birmingham is lucky to have.

The Woodlawn Writers Corps is a collective of more than 700 students at Avondale Elementary, Oliver Elementary, and Putnam Middle School. Every week during the school year, volunteers from the Desert Island Supply Co. facilitate in-school creative writing workshops for Corps members.
