Hi friends!
It’s that season yet again – DISCO’s Read-A-Thon is tomorrow, Friday, December 2! I so appreciated your support last year, and I had so much fun reading. This year’s theme is the number 10 in honor of DISCO’s ten year anniversary. I am going to be reading a scene from 10:04, one of my all-time favorite books!

Desert Island Supply Co. (DISCO), a creative writing and arts center in Birmingham, AL that provides programming to Birmingham schoolchildren. DISCO is so important to Laura and me—Laura volunteered with the organization, and we love attending their readings. At the first DISCO event we attended in 2013, Laura met Kristen Connell, who is now Laura’s co-owner at the bookstore (Kristen’s husband Brian is the director of DISCO). DISCO’s in-school program, the All-City Writers Corps, is a collective of more than 300 third-twelfth graders who participate in weekly creative writing workshops designed to unleash their imaginations.
